“Very good shady campground. Very clean bathrooms. Could use some gravel around the picnic table so it didn't turn to mud when it rains.”
“Great little campground. NOTE: Site 9 - the description on-line is not correct. Site 9 is now a big through with little shade, not a shaded back-in as described.”

Big Game Campground sits at about 6,000 feet on the north bank of the North Fork Shoshone River, roughly 29 miles west of Cody along the Buffalo Bill Scenic Byway and about 23 miles east of Yellowstone's east entrance. The site is small and straightforward: 14 single-family campsites, each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and equipped with a picnic table and a metal campfire ring. Facilities are basic vault toilets and regularly emptied trash receptacles and there is no potable water on site, so plan to bring your own. Campers may collect firewood in the area, and sites are set among cottonwood and juniper trees where river access is immediate; the campground lies between Wapiti Campground and Horse Creek Picnic Area, with the interpretive Wapiti Wayside less than half a mile east. Recreation centers on the river and the scenic corridor: the North Fork is a popular fly-fishing stretch for rainbow and Yellowstone cutthroat trout, and the byway itself provides excellent auto touring and wildlife-viewing opportunities. Expect to see a variety of animals in the surrounding forest from elk, deer and bison to moose, foxes, coyotes, bald eagles and, occasionally, grizzly bears and use the nearby Wapiti Wayside for interpretive material about local wildlife. Within a short drive, Pahaska Tepee (Buffalo Bill's 1904 hunting lodge) offers daily tours in summer along with guided horseback rides, a restaurant, gift shop and lodging; farther afield, the town of Cody supplies dining and museum options such as the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Beyond the immediate campground, Shoshone National Forest supports a broad range of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, horseback riding, boating, climbing, and winter sports, making Big Game a practical base for exploring the Greater Yellowstone region.
