Gillette Campground sits in a compact stand of lodgepole pine and tamarack a short walk from Gillette Lake about a quarter-mile from the water's edge and offers a quiet, forested base for lake-side recreation. The loop contains 29 campsites, each designated for both RVs and tents, and many sites benefit from the shade of the surrounding trees. Facilities are basic but serviceable: vault toilets, piped drinking water, and bear-proof garbage containers spaced around the loop. A covered gathering spot built around a large fallen tree trunk is an unusual, photo-worthy feature inside the campground, and foot access leads directly toward Rufus and Springboard Trails for hikers who want to extend a day's exploration into the woods. Recreation centers on Gillette Lake swimming and boating are common in summer and the campground's immediate setting makes walking, bicycling and trail outings easy to plan. OHVs are permitted to drive into and out of the park, so the area serves both quiet campers and riders who need vehicular access; as always, follow posted trail and vehicle regulations. Because services are minimal, check with the Colville National Forest office before you go for current information on fees, reservation policies, seasonal openings and road conditions (especially if you're towing an RV). The campground's location is about 20 miles east of Colville along Highway 20, accessed from Pend Oreille Lake Road, making it an accessible stop for day trips or a multi-night base for exploring this corner of the forest.
