This weekend (Fri, Oct 30 – Sun, Nov 1): First come, first served. The listing marks this stay first come, first served — no online reservations.
Longest RV site listed: 15 ft.
Perched on the summit of Wolf Creek Highway at about 9,400 feet, Wolf Creek Campground is small and mountain-tight, with a total of five campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents. Three are single sites (each listed for $27 and a maximum of eight people), and two are larger group sites one set up for 30 people ($147) and the other for 60 people ($257). The larger group area (the 60-person site) has an amphitheater above it with a cement stage, wood benches and a campfire circle, making it well suited for gatherings or interpretive programs. Sites sit among dense stands of pines with scattered aspens and open meadows that bloom with wildflowers in summer; wildlife is common. Payment options on site include cash, check or Scan & Pay, and an extra vehicle is charged $10, so plan vehicle sharing if you're bringing trailers or extra cars. Trail access and regional recreation are the campground's strongest draws. The 3.5-mile Trail Hollow Trail begins at the campground and heads into the West Fork of the Duchesne, offering expansive views of the Wasatch Range as you climb out of the campground. Eight miles to the north, Soapstone Basin provides miles of designated dirt trails for off-road vehicles and mountain bikers and is also a good spot for birding. More broadly, the surrounding Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest supports auto touring, biking, boating, fishing, horseback riding and horse camping, picnicking, swimming and wildlife viewing but these opportunities lie across the forest rather than as campground amenities. For reservations and facility questions call (385) 273-1100 or use Recreation.gov (transactions appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777"); note that changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's fee (and no-shows can face additional charges), and refund requests must be made within 14 days after your scheduled departure.
