“Grew up coming here every year.. the “new rafting community” were a bunch a a holes. They kind of ruined the whole weekend. ”
“Exactly as expected. Immaculate pit toilets. Pack it in, pack it out, keep it tidy for future users! ”

Boundary Creek Campground sits at about 6,280 feet in a stand of lodgepole pines right next to the boat launch for the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and at the edge of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. The campground is very small five sites total and each site is set up to handle both tents and RVs, with a picnic table and a metal campfire ring at every spot. Visitors will find vault toilets and drinking water on site; because the campground is frequently used by river runners, it's a practical place to overnight while you wait to launch the next day. Float permits are required year-round for the Middle Fork, and a nearby transfer camp provides long-term parking and trail access into the wilderness if you need to leave a vehicle while you're on the river. Logistics matter here: during the high-use season (June 15 Aug 15) the five campsites are reservable, while outside that window sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Boundary Creek is reached from Idaho State Highway 21 via the Bear Valley Road (Forest Road 579) and Boundary Creek Road (Forest Road 568), a combined run of roughly 26 miles of rough, narrow, single-lane dirt that commonly stays snowbound until late May or early June plan your vehicle and trailer accordingly. On land you'll find good hiking, horseback riding, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing right from the campground, and of course boating and multi-day river trips from the adjacent launch; for other pursuits listed across Salmon-Challis National Forest (biking, OHV routes, winter sports, etc.), check local maps and seasonal access before you go.
