Perched at about 8,700 feet on the shore of Meeks Cabin Reservoir a roughly 470-acre mountain lake that straddles Utah and the southwest corner of Wyoming Meeks Cabin Campground is a single gravel loop sunk into stands of pine and aspen with direct water views from many sites. The campground contains 23 sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, each shaded site outfitted with a picnic table and a steel fire ring; vault toilets are on site but you should not expect hookups or a dump station. The reservoir is used for boating and fishing (the boat ramp is nearer the dam than the campground), though it's not promoted as a swimming destination; beyond the shore, the surrounding Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest offers hiking, wildlife viewing, auto touring, biking, horseback riding and OHV opportunities, so Meeks Cabin often works well as a base camp for mixed recreational days. Practical details matter here: the fee structure lists 18 single sites at $22 per night (capacity 8 people + 1 vehicle) and 5 double sites at $44 per night (capacity 16 people + 2 vehicles), with day-use priced at $15 and an extra-vehicle charge of $10. Reservations can be paid by cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the Recreation.gov app; standard Recreation.gov policies apply a $10 service fee is withheld on refunds for cancellations, same-day or day-before cancellations for individual campsites incur the $10 fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee, and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus the first night's fee. Eligible Interagency Pass discounts apply only to individual campsites (Senior/Golden Age and Access/Golden Access passes), and refund requests should be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile (within seven days after a reservation ends) or via the call center. The campground sits about 29 miles south of Mountain View, WY along State Route 410 and Forest Road 058, so allow time for the forest road approach and check Recreation.gov or local forest contacts for current access conditions and availability.
