Bulltown Campground sits on the edge of Burnsville Lake beside the Bulltown Historic Area, occupying the site of a Civil War engagement that is brought to life with reenactments twice a year. The campground contains 204 sites all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents arranged across six loops (Loop A: 12 sites; Loop B: 10 sites; Loop C: 61 sites; Loop D: 59 sites; Loop E: 33 sites; Loop F: 21 sites). Playgrounds and shower facilities are available within each loop, and there is a boat ramp inside the campground with a sandy beach roughly a mile away. The landscape here is hilly and forested at the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, near the headwaters of Burnsville Lake on the Little Kanawha River; for practical planning the campground's street address is 1183 Bulltown Campground Road, Napier, WV 26631, and it lies north of Charleston along U.S. 19 (roughly 10 miles past the Flatwoods area) and south of Clarksburg along the same route. Note there is a $5.00 fee for visitors to the campground. The wider Burnsville Lake area offers a range of activities: boating and water sports (with boat rentals and storage available at the marina), fishing, hunting, hiking, wildlife viewing, environmental education programs, picnicking, playgrounds, and a visitor center that interprets the Bulltown Historic Village and other cultural sites. For larger gatherings, the park also manages picnic shelters at nearby Burnsville Lake facilities, and the Burnsville Lake Wildlife Management Area lies to the east for expanded hunting and wildlife opportunities; two general stores are within about three miles for basic supplies. The campground data provided does not specify site reservation rules or seasonal closures, so call the Bulltown Historic Area Visitor Center or the Burnsville Lake contacts before you go to confirm current fees, event schedules (including the Civil War reenactments), and whether you can reserve a particular site or shelter.
