“Very nice, secluded walk in campsite located on the lake side. We have stayed at this campsite twice so far and plan on being back in the future. ”

Longest RV site listed: 45 ft.
East Twin Campground sits along the shore of a 110-acre East Twin Lake in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of northwestern Wisconsin, with many sites opening onto water framed by maple, birch and hemlock. The small campground has six single-family sites in total: five drive-up sites that accept both RVs and tents, and one tent-only walk-in site for campers seeking a little more seclusion. A public boat ramp is about a half-mile east of the campground, and a short walk-in portage near the site leads over to West Twin Lake, making the spot convenient for anglers pursuing largemouth bass, panfish and the occasional musky. Miles of hiking and mountain-bike trails thread the surrounding forest, a Blue Heron rookery lies just down the road, and the Dead Horse Run trailhead is about five miles to the south, while loons, bald eagles, herons and even elk are frequent sights for those interested in wildlife viewing. Facilities at East Twin are straightforward and family-oriented: each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill, and the campground provides accessible vault toilets, potable drinking water, trash collection and an aluminum can recycling bin. Because services are basic, pack accordingly for extended stays and for RV needs beyond what a primitive site provides. The campground's proximity to the broader Chequamegon-Nicolet landscape means you can combine lakeside swimming, boating and fishing with auto touring, horseback trails, OHV routes and backcountry hiking elsewhere in the forest. For current fees, reservation rules, seasonal opening dates and road conditions, check the Forest Service recreation pages before you go.
