CHEQUAMEGON-NICOLET NATIONAL FOREST
Open in Google Maps ↗
Eastwood Campground sits on the wooded edge of the Mondeaux Flowage inside the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, a broad swath of lakes and forestland north of Medford. Sites sit in the shade near the shallow 411-acre flowage, and the Ice Age National Scenic Trail runs through the campground, so short walks can turn into longer hikes that follow the glacial ridgelines that shaped this part of Wisconsin. A public boat ramp into the Mondeaux Flowage is a short drive from camp, and the lake shallow but wide is used for swimming and for angling; anglers commonly find muskellunge, panfish, largemouth bass and pike. If you want a larger day-use area, the Mondeaux Picnic Area at the dam is only a couple miles away and offers extra space for groups or picnicking beside the water. The campground contains 11 campsites, each suitable for both tents and RVs, and none offer electrical or water hookups, so plan to be self-contained. Every site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; accessible vault toilets are provided on site and drinking water is available nearby at Glacial Springs on Park Road (FR 1563). Sites are generally managed on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise posted check the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest recreation pages for up-to-date information on fees, passes, seasonal openings and any reservation options. Beyond the immediate campground you'll find a wide range of forest activities boating, fishing, biking, horseback riding, OHV trails, auto touring, hunting, wildlife viewing and more making Eastwood a practical base for both short family stays and longer outdoor excursions.
