“I had space 11 with little to no traffic and lots of privacy. There are many varieties of trees and vegetation. It is lush. The creek is beautiful. ”
“Been coming here for five years. The campground setting is gorgeous and the host does a wonderful job managing the site. Restrooms are the cleanest! ”

Panther Creek Campground sits beside the creek that gives it its name and intersects the Pacific Crest Trail, so the dominant sounds are running water and the occasional south to north hiker's footsteps. The sites are shaded by a thick mix of cedar, ash, fir and alder, which creates a private, cool feeling even on warmer days; a short drive (about 4.7 miles upriver on Forest Road 65) puts you at an easy trail to Panther Falls. The campground is on the Mount Adams Ranger District of Gifford Pinchot National Forest a landscape that ranges from low-elevation wetlands and meadows to alpine glaciers and high lakes and makes a practical base for day trips to Mount Adams, the nearby Columbia River Gorge, or the small town of Carson, where hot springs, a golf course and a few restaurants offer services close by. The site layout and amenities are straightforward and camper-focused: there are 33 back-in sites (each listed for both RV and tent use) with parking spurs that range from 20 to 40 feet, so many mid-size RVs and trailers can be accommodated; the creek-adjacent "Premium" sites include a picnic table and grill. Potable water and vault toilets are available on site, and an extra vehicle fee of $8 applies. Reservations and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov canceling up to two days before arrival incurs a $10 fee; same-day or day-before cancellations pay a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's fee, one-night reservations forfeit the full amount, and no-shows are charged a $20 service fee plus the first night's rate. Refund requests must be submitted within seven days of your reservation end date (emergency closures are fully refunded), and because the location has limited staffing you should call (509) 427-3677 for up-to-date conditions or questions about seasonal access. Activities in the broader forest include hiking (including access to the PCT), fishing, wildlife viewing, swimming and horseback and vehicle-based recreation, so plan according to the mix of creekside quiet and easy trail access this campground provides.
