About

Perched along the Logan River about 10.5 miles east of Logan on the Logan Canyon roadway, Preston Valley Campground sits at roughly 5,500 feet and offers a quietly riverside setting where the steady sound of flowing water frames your stay. The site attracts anglers especially fly fishers who can fish from shore or float sections of the river, and people looking to tube easier stretches of the water during warmer weather. Nearby area trails and the canyon road itself provide straightforward options for short hikes, wildlife and birdwatching, and scenic drives; there are also designated trails in the forest for mountain biking and more extended exploration of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Expect a campground that feels small and river-focused rather than a full-service basecamp: days here tend to center on fishing, picnicking, casual trail outings and watching for birds and deer along the river corridor. The campground contains seven sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, each equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, and flush restrooms are available on site. The standard single-site use fee is $25 (sites commonly hold up to eight people), day-use access is $15, and an extra vehicle is $10 per vehicle per day; payment is accepted by cash, check or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov and carry standard service and change rules: a $10 service fee is withheld for cancellations, and cancelling the day before or on your arrival day incurs a $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee; no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's fee. A $10 change fee applies when switching dates that fall entirely outside your original reservation, while extensions or shortenings that include original dates typically do not incur a change fee. Interagency pass discounts apply only to individual campsite recreation fees for specific passes (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age and Golden Access), and refund requests are handled through your Recreation.gov profile (refund windows and fee exceptions apply).
