    About

Cleveland Reservoir Campground sits high on the Wasatch Plateau at about 9,000 feet alongside the 135.8-acre Cleveland Reservoir, an alpine waterbody fringed by stands of aspen and pine and open meadows of sagebrush and summer wildflowers. The campground is very small only two campsites in total and each site is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents; sites are available on a strict first-come, first-served basis, and you must physically arrive to claim and pay for a site. Payment is handled on-site through the Recreation.gov mobile app by scanning the posted QR code, so download the app on Android or iOS before you come (cell service can be intermittent up here). There are vault toilets but no potable water, electricity, sewer hookups or trash collection, so plan to bring your own water and carry out everything you bring in. The site is unstaffed; for general information you can call the Manti-La Sal office at (435) 384-2372. Recreation around Cleveland Reservoir is focused on water and trail access: Utah's Department of Wildlife Resources stocks the reservoir with rainbow trout and the lake is well suited to canoeing or kayaking, though there is no boat ramp. Two miles farther up the road is Huntington Reservoir, where tiger trout are stocked, and Electric Lake a short drive away provides a formal boat ramp and opportunities for water-skiing and kokanee or cutthroat fishing. Off-highway vehicle riders will find immediate access to the Lake Canyon and Arapeen OHV trail systems, which offer many miles of routes including three beginner loops; hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing are also popular on the surrounding plateau. Because of the high elevation expect cooler temperatures and the potential for shoulder-season snow plan accordingly for clothing, vehicle access, and a carry-in/carry-out approach to waste.
