“I have lived here all my life in New Mexico and this is the second time camping here 19 and 20 are the best camping sites beautiful place enjoyed myself took my little pop-up and it was perfect”
“Great park. Well spaced RV sites and great walking”
“This is in our top five favorite campgrounds of all time and we’ve been camping for the past 42 years. The setting with the 360° view, the campground hosts Cyndy and Al, and the quiet serene setting of the campground all make it a very appealing place.”

Riana Campground sits atop a 150-foot bluff overlooking Abiquiu Lake at about 6,400 feet elevation, where the Rio Chama widens into a 5,200-acre reservoir known for some of northern New Mexico's best fishing. The campground's trees pinion pine, juniper, and sage give off that crisp, resinous scent of the high desert but provide only limited shade, so plan for sun and wind exposure. From the bluff you get a wide view toward Cerro Pedernal, the narrow mesa that dominated Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings, and red sandstone formations line the highways nearby; paleontologists have even found reptile fossils in the area dating back roughly 200 million years. Water recreation is a draw here: boat launching is available about a mile from the campground, and visitors commonly come for boating, water skiing, and general water-sports on the lake, while hiking, picnicking, and environmental-education opportunities spread through the surrounding landscape. A small playground and a specialized sport site provide options for families and active groups. The campground contains 59 sites in total 39 sites configured for both RVs and tents and 20 tent-only sites and a portion of the sites offer electric and water hookups (13 sites are equipped with hookups). On-site amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, potable drinking water, picnic shelters and grills, lantern posts and tent pads, plus a dump station. Practical details such as current fees, reservation rules and seasonal availability are handled by the managing office; for facility-specific questions call (505) 685-4561. Riana is about an hour northwest of Santa Fe and a little over an hour from Taos, with Ghost Ranch roughly a 10-minute drive and cultural destinations like the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Bandelier, Cumbres & Toltec Railroad, and Chaco Canyon within day-trip range.
