“Camp was clean and well maintained maintained. ”
“Great little campground. Close to the highway so you get road noise. Clean well maintained ”
“Spring Gulch was clean and the sites had plenty of room. My only disappointment was the highway noise. I didn’t realize how close the highway was and very few trees to block the noise.”

Spring Gulch Campground sits right on the banks of the Bitterroot River about 50 feet from Highway 93, at roughly 4,300 feet in elevation, so you get immediate river access and a stand of ponderosa pines for shade and privacy despite the highway proximity. It's a compact site 11 campsites in all with eight sites sized for both RVs and tents, two RV-only sites and one tent-only site. You'll find basic, well-maintained amenities: picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, drinking water and accessible vault toilets, plus multiple accessible campsites and an accessible fishing dock. There are no RV hookups here, so RV travelers should plan on dry-camping. Wildlife is common in the area mule and white-tailed deer, elk and even the occasional moose and a short paved path follows the river for easy walking and launching small watercraft. The campground provides direct access to the recreational variety that characterizes the Bitterroot National Forest. Trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are nearby, and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail is reachable without a long drive; trails also climb into surrounding peaks if you want more elevation. The river invites boating, rafting, kayaking and fishing (anglers often find cutthroat trout among other freshwater species), and a number of natural hot springs, including Lost Trail Hot Springs about seven miles to the south, make easy day trips. The town of Sula with a gas station, post office, general store and some lodging is only a few miles away (about 3 miles northwest from Sula on Highway 93, roughly 75 miles south of Missoula). Seasonal openings, fees and reservation options are managed by the U.S. Forest Service, so check Bitterroot National Forest or the local ranger district before you go for up-to-date information.
