“We had a great time staying in this area. Even had enough AT&T service to win a whatnot auction.”
“The campground is old and mostly primitive sites. You can tell the campground manager is working to improve the camper sites. The bathhouse is old and not super clean but had hot water for my shower. The trail around the lake is serene. ”
“Beautiful spot. Camp host was very nice, friendly and helpful. Wish we planned better and could have stayed a couple days longer”

Chewalla Lake Recreation Area sits roughly 81/2 miles southeast of Holly Springs, Mississippi, on a 260-acre, no-wake lake edged with a sandy swimming beach and a ring of pine, oak and sweetgum. The calm water makes it easy to launch a canoe or kayak from the on-site boat ramp and keeps swimmer areas pleasant and sheltered; anglers will find largemouth bass, bream, crappie and catfish in the shallows and deeper spots. The campground threads through a landscape shaped by past farming you'll notice split-rail fences lining the deep gullies formed by erosion and dogwood trees dot the loops with white and pink blooms each spring. Holly Springs itself, the nearest town, offers historic architecture, grocery and fuel options about a 15 20 minute drive away. The campground has 20 sites in total: 19 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and one site reserved for tent camping only. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring; RV-capable sites provide electric and water hookups. The area's pavilion (shelter GS1) is available for group use at $40 for gatherings under 50 people and $80 for groups over 50, and every vehicle using the rented pavilion must pay a $5 day-use fee (this applies to the renter as well). During the operating season the campground is open 24 hours and remains available on major holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day; if you arrive after dark for a reserved site staff will leave a note showing the site is held for you. For facility details or questions about reservations call the Holly Springs Ranger District at (662) 236-6741 or use the physical address 726 Chewalla Lake Rd, Holly Springs, MS 38659 to find the recreation area from State Route 4/Forest Route 611.
