“We enjoyed our stay at Highway K campground site A12. The campground was well maintained and the shower house was kept clean. ”
“This is a wonderful, inexpensive campground, right on the beautiful Black River! There is also a great canoe outfitter with a store right at the entrance! They have decent showers with hot water and a nice pavilion that you can rent by the day. ”

Highway K Campground sits where the Black River runs clear and slow a few miles upstream from Clearwater Lake, with campsites spreading along both banks in a stand of mixed hardwoods that offers a fair amount of shade and riverfront access. The campground contains a total of 81 sites: 80 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 1 tent-only site, arranged in five loops Loop A (15 sites), Loop B (17 sites), Loop C (23 sites), Loop D (5 sites), and Loop K (20 sites). Anglers and paddlers will find easy opportunities here: fishing and canoeing are popular directly on the river and many campers wade into the shallow stretches in warm months. Beyond the riverbank, Clearwater Lake's larger recreation area adds hiking and biking routes, boating and other water sports, a concession site, picnic areas and playgrounds, and a watchable-wildlife area framed by rolling hills, springs, and bluffs dotted with native flowers. Facilities at Highway K cover the basics for an extended stay: many sites offer electric hookups, some include water hookups, and the park provides a dump station, hot showers, a picnic shelter, and a playground. The campground is reached from Annapolis by taking MO Highway K west for about five miles; the park is on the left and straddles the bridge over the river.
