Little Isabella River Campground sits in a quiet stand of red and white pines about 4.5 miles west of Isabella, Minnesota, reached from MN-61 via MN-1 at Illgen City. The small facility occupies a narrow riparian porch along the Little Isabella River at roughly 1,900 feet elevation, where the stream runs as a modest brook with occasional riffles. Eleven campsites six are first-come, first-served and five can be reserved in advance are tucked into the trees; every site is listed for both RV and tent use and is positioned for privacy and easy access to the water. Basic comforts are provided: a toilet facility and trash collection are on site, and additional vehicles or trailers are allowed for a $7.50 fee if parked on the spur. If you plan to fish, the river is known locally for brook trout and is the campground's main draw; the surrounding Superior National Forest opens up many other opportunities hiking through boreal woodlands, canoeing nearby waters, seasonal hunting and broad wildlife viewing plus access to the forest's lake accesses, fishing piers and beaches a short drive away. Rates are $15 per night for one vehicle and one trailer; if you add vehicles or trailers you'll pay the extra $7.50 per vehicle onsite or when you reserve online. Reservations can be made for the five reservable sites and changes or cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours before arrival; otherwise pay the fee in the campground fee tube.
