“Love the place it hasn't changed a bit family been going there for 70 years”
“Campsites were clean and well maintained. The lake was beautiful, we spent a lot of time on the water and on the bike trail. I don’t think the vault toilets and garbage bins had been pumped or dumped in a while, but we didn’t let it ruin the experience. ”

South Pike Bay Campground sits along the south shore of Pike Bay on Cass Lake in north-central Minnesota, its campsites arranged on a long spur through mixed hardwoods and stands of older pine. The campground offers 22 non-electric sites that accommodate both RVs and tents; each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring. Basic infrastructure is on hand vault toilets, potable drinking water, and trash collection and a boat ramp within the campground puts the water within easy reach. Several sites are located right on a sand beach, making early-morning swims and shoreline fishing convenient from your campsite, while the tree cover provides a quieter, more sheltered feeling than many open-lake campgrounds. Recreation here centers on the water and the paved Migizi Bike Trail, whose trailhead is on-site: the trail runs 14 miles along the lakeshore and is open to biking, walking, and rollerblading. Boating, canoeing, water skiing and swimming are popular from the campground, and anglers target walleye, northern pike, perch and occasional trophy muskie. South Pike Bay is also a portage point on the 128-mile Chippewa Headwaters Loop Canoe Route a historic route with six portages that is considered the most difficult in the forest for experienced canoeists. For supplies and services, the town of Cass Lake lies about six miles to the northwest; you'll find restaurants, groceries, a bank and other conveniences there. Note that sites are non-electric and facilities are basic; check current fees, seasonal availability and reservation rules with the U.S. Forest Service before you go.
