Pines Point Campground sits on the banks of the White River in the western side of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, a short drive west of Hesperia along M-20 and onto a series of county and forest roads that lead to Forest Road 5637. The camping loop is small and riverfront-focused: TOTAL CAMPSITES: 5, with all 5 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites. That compact layout is centered around a group loop made up of five sites each site in that loop is set up to accommodate groups (capacity roughly 20 guests per site) and the entire loop can be reserved for larger gatherings. Sites are equipped with a picnic table, a metal fire ring and a lantern post; there are flush toilets and a drinking-water source on site, but no electric hookups, so expect a more self-contained, quiet camping experience beneath the tall white pines and rolling hills that give the area its character. The White River is both the backdrop and the main draw here: anglers come for trout, salmon and sucker, and paddlers commonly put in for the easy, roughly one-hour float around the "point" a walk-in canoe landing provides convenient access. Beyond onsite activities, Pines Point is a good base for exploring trails in the nearby White River Special Area (primarily non-motorized) and for the broader recreation opportunities in the Huron-Manistee National Forests, which include biking, horseback riding, OHV areas, auto touring, swimming, wildlife viewing and interpretive programs.
