“We really enjoyed our stay. We had a ball watching people put in and take their boats out at the dock. The campground attendants Cheryl and Barry were totally awesome and always ready to help. ”

Cave Creek Campground sits on the shore of Rough River Lake in south central Kentucky, offering a mix of wooded hills and rocky shoreline carved from sandstone, shale and limestone. The campground has 64 sites total: 58 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 6 tent-only sites, arranged across six loops (Loop A: 13 sites; B: 11; C: 11; D: 11; E: 12; F: 5). Practical facilities at the campground include a boat ramp and fishing pier for direct lake access, a dump station, drinking water, a shower house, a playground, a disc golf course and a basketball court so you can move from launching a boat to an evening game without leaving the loop. Wildlife is a regular part of the scene; migratory songbirds and waterfowl use the lake and its coves, and the karst terrain nearby means sinks and caverns are common in the surrounding countryside. Rough River Lake itself is a 5,100-acre recreation area with boating, fishing, swimming and water-sports opportunities; bass, crappie and catfish draw anglers year-round and local marinas rent pontoons, johnboats and jet skis. The broader area supports hiking, environmental-education programs, picnicking and other concession-driven services, and a privately owned lodge/resort sits on the lake. Historic Green Farm with its ancestral home, water-powered mill and an 18-hole Lafayette Green course is adjacent to the lake, and Mammoth Cave National Park is roughly an hour's drive away. Cave Creek is reached near the Falls of Rough community (about 20 miles from Leitchfield and roughly 90 miles, or 1.5 hours, from Louisville); the campground's address is 1543 Cave Creek Road, Falls of Rough, KY. For campground-specific information and reservation details call (270) 879-4304; note the reservation policy: a $10 fee applies to cancellations or changes, cancellations made the day before arrival through the day after arrival are charged the first night's use fee, no-shows are charged $20 plus the first night's fee, and if your reservation is only one night and you are charged the first night's use fee, the $10 or $20 service fees do not apply.
