“This is a very small place. But it is well maintained and so quiet you can hear a hickory nut hit the ground from the other side of the campground. The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my life as it went down on the far side of the lake.”
“Camp staff were very friendly. View of lake was great. Restrooms were clean. Area was nice and peaceful. ”
“It is a very well kept and quiet campground. I have visited this campground several times. ”

Bumpus Mills sits on the upstream section of Lake Barkley amid wooded, rolling hills where the Cumberland River widens into the lake that runs parallel to Kentucky Lake. The small recreation area is focused on water-based activities boat launching from the onsite ramp and a public marina makes access to fishing and water sports straightforward and the shoreline and nearby trails support hiking, swimming and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is a major draw here: golden and bald eagles, wild turkey and deer are commonly seen, so bring binoculars and a camera for birding and photography. The campground itself is compact but well-equipped: there are 15 total campsites and all 15 are RV sites with water and electric hookups, plus hot showers, a dump station and the marina facilities for boaters. For logistics, the campground's physical address is 764 Forest Trail, Bumpus Mills, TN 37028; it's located in the small community of Bumpus Mills near the Tennessee Kentucky border and is reached from the Clarksville/Highway 79 120 corridor or from Cadiz via KY-68 and KY-139 into Highway 120. Fort Donelson National Battlefield lies to the east and the Bear Creek Waterfowl Management Unit is a short drive to the south; the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area occupies the strip of land between Barkley and Kentucky lakes and expands options for longer hikes, auto touring and interpretive programs. Because the site count is small, plan ahead and contact the managing park office or recreation area for current fees, reservation policies, seasonal availability and any access requirements before you go.
