Oconee Point sits on a gently sloping 70-acre parcel shaded by a relatively dense stand of pines and mixed hardwoods, with immediate access to the much larger Hartwell Lake a Corps-managed reservoir of nearly 56,000 acres and about 962 miles of shoreline. The campground itself contains 70 public sites (all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents) with full water and electric hookups (both 30- and 50-amp service), two park attendant campsites, five comfort stations (three of which have showers), and a dump station. Roads and parking within the park are paved and a gatehouse marks the entrance; along the lakeshore you'll find a single boat ramp and a courtesy dock, a designated swim area with a sand beach, and two playgrounds for families. The setting is easygoing gently rolling camp loops under shade trees with quick water access and Oconee Point is one of the Corps' developed recreation sites on Hartwell, which provides extensive public land around the lake for boat launches, beaches and picnicking. Oconee Point is a convenient base for anglers, boaters and swimmers: the lake is known for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass, and the broad coves and quieter arms suit everything from canoeing and sailing to water-skiing. If you need supplies or want a day trip, Clemson, SC and Clemson University are a short drive away, and local services groceries, fuel and restaurants are readily accessible off State Highway 24 near Townville; the campground street address is 200 Oconee Point Rd, Seneca, SC 29678. Reservations carry a $10 fee to cancel or to change site or dates once made; cancellations made the day before or up to the day after your arrival will be charged the first night's use fee. Reserved sites are held only until 2 p.m. on the day after your scheduled arrival; failure to arrive by that time will result in cancellation, a $20 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations that have been charged the first night are not assessed the $10 service fee). Note also that reservations with departure dates outside the 6- or 12-month maximum window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after booking. Refunds must be requested within 14 days after your scheduled departure (NNRS Customer Service: 888-448-1474); card payments are credited to the original card, while cash or check refunds are mailed and can take up to eight weeks to process.
