Watsadler Campground sits on a 36-acre tract of dense pine and mixed hardwoods at Hartwell Lake, offering plenty of shade and a compact, wooded campground feel while keeping you close to the water. The campground contains 49 campsites: 47 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 RV-only sites, and the public campsites are served with full water and electrical hookups. Facilities are substantial for a Corps-managed site a single gated entrance with park attendant presence, two attendant campsites for staff, three comfort stations (two include showers), a dump station, a paved road network and parking, plus two playgrounds for kids. Boat access at Watsadler is straightforward: there's one boat ramp and a courtesy dock right at the site, so launching for an early morning run or an evening cruise is practical without a long drive. Hartwell Lake's nearly 56,000 acres and 962 miles of shoreline set the scene for a wide range of activities, many of which are reachable from Watsadler: anglers target largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass; boaters find coves and stretches suited to canoes, sailboats, motorboats and water skiing; and swimmers can use sand beaches and designated swim areas at parks around the lake. Watsadler is open year-round, but make reservations deliberately cancellations or changes carry a $10 service fee, same-day or next-day cancellations are charged the first night's fee, and no-shows incur a $20 service fee plus the first night. Reserved campsites will be held only until 2 p.m. on the day following your scheduled arrival; if you don't arrive by that time your reservation will be cancelled and the fees above will apply. For refunds and other reservation questions contact Recreation One Stop at 877-444-6777 (refund requests must be made within 14 days of your scheduled departure; card refunds post to the original card, cash/check refunds may take up to eight weeks). The campground's address is 286 Watsadler Road, Hartwell, GA, a short drive north of Hartwell off Highway 29 and easily reached from I-85 exits in both Georgia and South Carolina.
