“The Campground Hosts were friendly, polite and delightful to talk with. The weather could not have been better. An improvement over years past. That said, Campground Hosts need to be aggressive with communication when people need to be informed.”
“This was a very nice campground, with good security and well cared for. ”
“Host staff are awesome! So friendly and helpful”

Sweetwater Campground sits along the shore of Allatoona Lake amid the region's rolling green hills, offering a straightforward lakeside camping experience rather than glitzy amenities. The campground contains 150 reservable sites in total: 108 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 42 tent-only sites, with a number of true lakefront sites that look out over the water. Sites are grouped within easy walking distance of the campground dock and a designated swimming beach, and each site includes a fire ring and picnic area; drinking water, flush toilets and coin-operated showers are available on site. The park is staffed (call local staff at (770) 720-4025) and Sweetwater's physical address is 1400 Fields Chapel Road, Canton, GA the campground lies on Highway 20 between Canton and Cartersville, accessed via Fields Chapel Road a couple of miles off the highway. The lake itself is a large public recreation area with roughly 270 miles of shoreline and heavy use nearly seven million annual visitors come for boating, fishing, swimming and wildlife viewing so expect a lively atmosphere on summer weekends and steady angling activity. Allatoona is annually stocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar and catfish; several shoreline jetties and the Sweetwater dock are convenient for fishing or launching small boats, and eight marinas around the lake provide boat rentals and restaurants for larger watercraft. Trails and history are close at hand: the Allatoona visitor center (overlooking the dam) offers exhibits on the area's Native American, gold-mining and Civil War history and connects to nearby hiking, and Red Top Mountain State Park and the Etowah Indian Mounds are short drives away.
