“Our 2nd stay here in a different site. Very enjoyable overall. We had a great hike from the trailhead in the campground. Love the easy access from Colorado Springs. Will definitely return. ”
“# 14 Campsite is placed in a ravine, when if it were to rain it may flood... not good layout planning. The site I booked was quiet and secluded, still adequate size to back in a 27 FT. Travel Trailer and vehicle.”

Blue Mountain Campground sits at about 8,200 feet on a low hill a half-mile south of the South Platte River, with Eleven Mile Canyon rising to the north and the peak of Blue Mountain behind the loop to the south. The campground is intentionally primitive and quiet: sites are spread on a single loop among scattered ponderosa pines, giving a sense of space without formal landscaping. A short, one-mile self-guided walk on the Hard Rock Interpretive Trail leaves directly from the campground and climbs to an overlook of Eleven Mile Canyon where you can watch canyon birdlife and take in the river corridor below. Anglers find rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout in the South Platte; benches and picnic areas along the river make it easy to fish in comfort, and a few miles away the 3,405-acre Eleven Mile Reservoir expands opportunities for boating and open-water views. Hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers commonly use the canyon and surrounding forest country, and the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is an easy side trip for anyone interested in paleontology and unusual forest history. The campground has 20 reservable sites in total: 18 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring and has room for two vehicles; parking aprons are dirt and gravel. Facilities are basic two vault toilets and drinking water supplied by a pump so plan accordingly for a primitive camping experience. Reservations and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov: cancellations up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee; cancelling the day before or the day of arrival results in a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations forfeiture equals the full reservation); no-shows incur a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's rate, taxes and add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after the reservation ends; refunds are returned to the original payment method (or by Treasury check for cash/check purchases), and emergency closures are refunded in full. For facility-specific questions or current conditions call (661) 702-1420, and expect to reach the site via the County Road route east of Lake George toward Eleven Mile Canyon (the campground lies just past the canyon entrance on County Road 61).
