Joseph V ★ 4 · Oct 2025Excellent spot, but you’ll definitely need to bring some shade. It is a bit of a hike up the hill from the parking spot, but a little closer if you drive around and go up from the vault toilets. There’s another site close through the trees that was unoccupied while I was there. That site will need to walk through this site to get to vault toilets. You can hear the water through what I’ll call the spillway(couldn’t find the source but didn’t look hard). There’s a great little shop at the entrance to the campsite for wood and stuff. Great view of the bay. Overall a great site if you don’t have a lot of gear to haul up.
Kyle B ★ 2 · Oct 2025Beware of ARAPAHO VALLEY RANCH!!! We camped at the Big Rock loop which is situated right next to Arapaho Valley Ranch which occasionally hosts private events. I am not exactly sure what was happening there but all night Friday & Saturday we kept hearing a crowd "WOOOH"'ing and there was a live band playing until 10 PM. Not exactly the peaceful camping experience we were hoping for.
Leah M ★ 5 · Sep 2025Amazing location and fall colors

Arapaho Bay Campground sits on the eastern tip of Lake Granby at about 8,300 feet, offering immediate shoreline access and an open, high-mountain character though because of mountain pine beetle removals the campground now has little to no shade. The campground contains 79 sites total, arranged in three loops: Big Rock (21 sites), Mora (28 sites) and Roaring Fork (30 sites). Sites are a mix of single- and double-family layouts; 61 of the sites accommodate both RVs and tents, nine are RV-only and nine are tent-only, and a few sites are accessible. Every site includes a picnic table, campfire ring and tent pad; the campground provides vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection. Lake Granby is part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area, so boating, sailing, swimming and fishing are the primary draws from these campsites anglers chase kokanee salmon and several trout species (rainbow, brown, mackinaw and cutthroat), and the area observes National Fishing Week the first week of June. A network of trails and horse routes threads the recreation area, including the Roaring Fork Trail, Monarch Lake Trail and the East Shore Trail (the latter forms part of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail), and the surrounding Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland offer a wide range of uses: auto touring, biking, climbing, fire lookout/cabin overnight opportunities, horse camping and riding, hunting, interpretive programs, OHV routes, picnicking, RV access, a visitor center, wildlife viewing and winter sports. The west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is just north of nearby Grand Lake for those seeking higher alpine routes. The campground is reached from Granby by heading north on Highway 34 to County Road 6 and following it east to the lake; check the U.S. Forest Service or recreation.gov for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal access details.
