Tree of Heaven Campground sits beside the Wild and Scenic stretch of the Klamath River at about 2,100 feet elevation, a setting that attracts anglers testing runs for trout and steelhead and whitewater boaters preparing for the class II III rapids downstream. The campground's quarter-mile interpretive trail offers a short, informative walk for birdwatchers and families, while a larger group day-use area complete with a volleyball net and a horseshoe pit provides space for gatherings or an afternoon break between river trips. A paved boat ramp at the site gives reliable river access for launches, and the combination of water-based recreation and nearby scenic driving (the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway runs close by) makes this a tidy base for both half-day outings and longer stays in the Klamath National Forest. Practical details are straightforward: the campground contains 21 total campsites, and all 21 are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents. Facilities on site are basic but essential vault toilets and drinking water and the short forest road off Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway), roughly four miles from I-5 exit 786 via Forest Road 46N90, provides the most direct access. The larger Klamath National Forest offers far more options beyond the campground hiking, horseback riding, auto touring, wildlife viewing and more so plan outfits and timing accordingly. Fees, reservation policies, seasonal openings and any river-condition advisories can change, so check current information with the Klamath National Forest office before you go.
