“Good place to camp and fish although seems like they could never get the shower in the men’s bathroom working right because of the hot water. It was way too hot to try to take a shower.”
“Was lacking some the typical care of the facilities that are seen in most Corp campgrounds.”
“Campsite was great. Only one shower worked in each of the womens and mens showerhouses, and the handdryer in the womens restroom didn't work. ”

NIMROD LAKE PROJECT OFFICE
Open in Google Maps ↗
Sunlight Bay Campground sits on the shore of Nimrod Lake where the Fourche LaFave spreads into Wilson Slough, framed by the forested rises of the Ouachita and Ozark foothills. The campground has 29 total campsites 28 sites equipped to accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site arranged with room between sites beneath stands of tall, sweet-scented pines. Facilities at Sunlight Bay include two boat ramps that put you quickly onto the lake, a playground for kids and a large day-use group picnic shelter for gatherings. The dam that created Nimrod Lake was completed in 1942; the reservoir and its surrounding roughly 21,000 acres now support a mix of recreation and wildlife habitat, and the area is easily reached from Plainview by taking Highway 28 west a short distance and following signs to the campground. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations and seasonal access, contact the managing agency before you go. Recreation at Sunlight Bay centers on water and wildlife: anglers target bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill, and the lake supports boating, water skiing and tubing (note that skiing and tubing are only allowed from the tip of Carden Point eastward toward the dam because areas to the west are hazardous). Nimrod Lake has 11 boat ramps around its shoreline, while walkers and wildlife viewers can look for white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail, fox, mink, squirrel, rabbit, dove and waterfowl along the shore and in the timber; seasonal hunting is permitted on much of the lake property except in and near recreation areas. Sunlight Bay is also a convenient base for exploring State Highway 7 the designated National Scenic Byway and nearby destinations such as Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park and Hot Springs National Park.
