Dam Quarry Campground sits on the banks of the North Fork River and Dry Run Creek just below Norfork Dam, where the river feeds the 22,000-acre Norfork Lake. The campground's 71 total campsites are arranged primarily in two loops Dam-Quarry contains 70 sites and Lake contains a single site with 69 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 sites reserved for tent camping only. A boat ramp is on-site for quick water access and a marina just above the dam supplies boat rentals, fuel and gear; most water-based activities in the immediate area center on angling and paddling, while the wider lake and shoreline support water skiing, sailing and scuba diving. Facilities on-site include electric hookups for every site except group sites, a playground for kids, and basic day-use features for picnicking and launching boats. Fishing is the campground's main draw Dam Quarry is known for trout in the tailwater below the dam but kayakers, birders and hikers also find plenty to do: public lands around Norfork support wildlife viewing and hunting (white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, rabbit and quail), and nearby hiking trails trace the forested hills of the Ozark Mountains through changing seasons. The campground is about 14 miles south of Mountain Home via State Route 5 and a short jaunt on State Route 177 near Salesville, roughly three miles northeast of the small town of Norfork; this makes the Ozark National Forest and regional recreation easily reachable by day trip. Practical note: cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee, and fees plus seasonal availability and specific access details should be checked through the park reservation system before you go.
