About

Foscue Creek Campground sits on the forested shore of Demopolis Lake the largest of the Black Warrior Tombigbee Waterway lakes offering direct access to roughly 10,000 acres of water. The campground is located just west of Demopolis, accessible from U.S. Highway 80 via Maria Street (the park recommends this route rather than following GPS directions that will route larger vehicles onto the narrow Jackson Street). The landscape reflects the Black Belt region's mix of dense conifer stands and rolling meadows, with seasonal wildflower displays and abundant wildlife; wood ducks, bald eagles and bluebirds are commonly seen from the shore and trail benches. The area is also known for hunting, and anglers will find bass, crappie, bream and catfish whether fishing from a boat or along the bank. For boaters, the Waterway has boat ramps at nearly all Corps recreation areas and three privately owned marinas nearby provide fuel, repairs, rentals and supplies. The facility combines a day-use area with a campground and group picnic options: four shelters accommodate groups of about 25 to 80 people. In total there are 59 campsites 54 sites configured to serve both RVs and tents and five tent-only sites each with a picnic table, lantern holder and a campfire ring with grill; sites are described as spacious, private and located close to the water. On-site recreation includes a boat ramp and the Foscue Creek Nature Trail, which follows the shoreline, features benches for wildlife viewing and trail markers for tree identification; anglers, boaters and hikers will find direct access to their activities here. Foscue Creek is presented as a year-round retreat, but for facility-specific details such as fees, reservation policies and seasonal conditions call (334) 402-1608. Across the broader Black Warrior Tombigbee system visitors can also pursue biking, historic and cultural sites, picnicking, playgrounds, specialized sport sites, water sports and additional wildlife viewing opportunities.
