Top Washington, DC Attractions

Washington, DC is an important travel destination for all Americans. Within the District of Columbia, there are amazing monuments to honor important figures and moments in history. Visitors can learn about the history of the nation in the same spot where much of the history was made. Washington, DC, as the Capitol of the nation is also one of the best places to experience how American Democracy works.
This historic part of DC is a great area to enjoy shopping, dining, entertainment and more. Georgetown is located on the waterfront of the Potomac River and has many excellent dining options, as well as many historic landmarks.

Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, and has an amazing collection. Visitors can take tours of the Library and see an amazing collection of books, photographs, maps, recordings and more.

Lincoln Memorial
Visitors to the National Mall should be sure to see the Lincoln Memorial in particular, one of the great monuments in the nation. The Lincoln Memorial gives visitors a glimpse into the importance of the great president. The Memorial is open 24 hours a day, and it is a great evening destination, with the lights and more.

National Mall & Memorial Parks
This is one of the most well known and one of the premiere parks in the country. Within the park there are many world-class destinations, including The Mall, the Washington Monument, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and more. Visitors to DC should be sure to make the National Mall & Memorials a priority during any visit.

National Museum of the American Indian
The National Museum of the American Indian is a one-of-a-kind look into the culture and history of Native American culture. Visitors can explore a wide variety of exhibits, and the Mitsitam Cafe is a great destination for lunch. The Cafe serves a great selection of Native American foods.

Smithsonian Institution
This is an amazing complex of museums, which could easily fill all of the time on your vacation. The Smithsonian Institution encompasses 19 museums and the National Zoological Park. Visitors to DC need to plan which of the Smithsonian museums to explore during your time in DC. The Smithsonian Institution includes the Air and Space Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Natural History Museum and more.

US Botanic Gardens
Visitors seeking an outdoor adventure can explore the US Botanic Garden and all of its exhibits. This destination is an excellent way to learn about and experience the world of plants. The Conservatory has exhibits featuring plants from around the world, and Bartholdi Park is a great explore beautiful themed gardens and more.

US Capitol
One of the best ways to watch American Democracy, as well as seeing living history, is to visit the Capitol. Visitors should remember to reserve tickets for a tour of the Capitol well in advance. It is also possible to get a pass to watch the House and Senate in session. The Capitol Visitor Center, where all visitors start their trip to the capitol, is a great destination by itself, with many exhibits about the history the Capitol and more.

Washington Monument
Located in the National Mall, the Washington Monument is one of the most prominent sights in  Washington, DC. All visitors, even if there isn't time to explore all of the monuments in the Mall, should stop and see this national landmark created in honor of the first President. The Egyptian style obelisk stands over 555 feet tall, and is a must-see on any trip to the Nation's Capitol.

White House
As the home of the President, the White House is another important destination in any trip to Washington, DC. This location has been the site of many of the most important decisions made in the history of the country. At this time tours are difficult to arrange, and must be scheduled months in advance. However, visitors can all stop and see the outside of the iconic residence.
