Spring Break is a great time to enjoy a family vacation. For a week, families have the ability to take a vacation. Throughout the United States there are warm vacation destinations, cold vacation destinations and much more. Here are a few great vacation destinations for spring break, whether you are seeking snowy vacations or sunny vacations.

Orlando, Florida
Orlando has a wide variety of attractions and activities for a spring break vacation. Families will all enjoy the many different adventure and amusement parks. Best known is Walt Disney World, but children and parents alike will also enjoy SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Studios Orlando. Families will also enjoy the beaches and many cultural attractions. The nearby Space Coast also has plenty to offer visitors, including the Kennedy Space Center, surfing at Cocoa Beach, and the Canaveral National Seashore.

Washington, DC
Washington, DC offers the ultimate historical and cultural spring break vacation. As the capital of the United States, there are many places of historical, political and cultural significance that families, especially families with older children would love. Washington, DC has a wide range of museums and national treasures, including the Smithsonian, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the National Mall. In addition, spring break often falls during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which has an amazing variety of activities for residents and visitors to enjoy.

South Padre Island, Texas
South Padre Island is a popular spring break destination for college students. However, it is also a great destination for the whole family. Families can enjoy the sandy beaches and warm weather, as well as surfing and other water activities. South Padre Island also has many different opportunities for wildlife viewing and bird watching. Just to the north, Padre Island National Seashore is another great spot to enjoy during a visit to the area. Padre Island has one of the longest stretches of undeveloped sandy beaches in North America. Visitors can enjoy beachcombing, camping, fishing, biking, swimming and more.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Like South Padre Island, Myrtle Beach is a popular spring break destination. Although many spring break vacationers are college age, families will also find plenty to enjoy during a vacation. Visitors will find miles of sandy beaches, offering many water sports including surfing, kayaking, diving, windsurfing and more. Myrtle Beach also has many water parks with excellent slides and rides for all visitors. Visitors will find family friendly dining, amusement parks, museums and more.

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

The Grand Canyon provides an awe-inspiring experience for a family spring break vacation. Vacationers can enjoy the lodges, camping, tours, hiking and much more. The South Rim is the most widely visited part of the park and is open throughout the year, the North Rim provides a more secluded vacation experience, but is only opens in May. The Grand Canyon offers mule trips, amazing hiking and river trips, and for the kids the Grand Canyon offers Junior Ranger programs. Visitors to the Grand Canyon can also take the Desert View Drive to see some amazing sights and points of interest along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

San Diego, California
This city in California is a perfect spring break destination for families. The weather is warm and there are plenty of fun family activities to enjoy. Children will love a visit the San Diego Zoo and see wild animals from across the globe, or see the rhinos on a safari trip at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. SeaWorld opens up the underwater world for parents and children. San Diego also has beautiful beaches where the whole family can enjoy some relaxation. Coronado Beach is an especially good beach, located on the ocean side of Coronado Island, the beach has the widest expanse of sand of any beach in the area.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Colorado is an ideal destination for a snowy, and sunny spring break. Steamboat Springs is a great location to enjoy spring break in Colorado. Spring time in Colorado still provides visitors with all of the fun of the snow. Visitors can enjoy great skiing, snowboarding and many other winter sports. Steamboat Springs also has many natural hot springs. These hot springs are relaxing and many believe the minerals in the warm waters of the hot springs have medicinal properties.

Big Island, Hawaii
The islands of Hawaii are filled with fun places for the family to visit. Throughout the islands there are beautiful beaches as well as fun attractions. The Big Island is the largest of the islands and offers a wide range of activities, from the beautiful beaches to the snowy mountaintop. Families will love the swimming, snorkeling, surfing and more. Each of the towns on the Big Island have delicious dining, shopping and fun family attractions. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is another amazing sight on the Big Island, at times visitors can take helicopter tours to see  the active lava in the park. The park also has rain forests, deserts, volcanic craters, excellent hiking and more.

Lake Tahoe, Nevada and California
Lake Tahoe is a great destination for a family vacation during spring break. The area has top resorts and excellent skiing well into the spring. Families can enjoy a delightful day taking in the sun and snow on the slopes of the mountain resorts, including Kirkwood, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. The Nevada side of Lake Tahoe offers plenty of fun activities off the slopes, and parents will love the nightlife.

San Francisco, California
Although the spring weather may not be as warm as southern California, San Francisco is filled with family friendly activities and attractions. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most iconic images of California, and every visitor should at least stop to take a family photo with the bridge in the background. San Francisco also has fun cable cars, which children will love to ride. Visitors will find the Aquarium of the Bay and much more at Fisherman's Wharf. Another great attraction with historical significance is Alcatraz Island, where visitors can take a cruise out to the island and enjoy a tour of the historic attraction.
