Cape May
Cape May is a beautiful resort community, that welcomes thousands of visitors looking to enjoy the beaches and small town feel during the summer. However, it is a great destination year round, with plenty to do and see. Cape May is actually a cape stretching into Delaware Bay, but a canal was dug from Cape May's Harbor to Delaware Bay making it an island. Visitors to Cape May can of course enjoy the water and beaches, as well as resorts, but there are many other things to do during a visit. There are many options for delicious dining, and opportunities to enjoy antiquing and small shops. The whole town has a very historic feel, with Victorian architecture and even ghost tours. Cape May also has nature trails, dolphin watching tours, fishing and much more.
Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway
The twelve miles of the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway pass through some of the most beautiful and historic parts of Delaware. Starting in Wilmington, the byway passes through some of Delaware's historic sites. The Byway takes visitors to many of the important sites of the Du Pont Legacy, and more.
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge
Bombay Hook is the largest National Wildlife Refuge in the state. This refuge is a fantastic destination for wildlife watching. With lots of tidal salt marsh, mud flats and many other types of ecosystems, visitors can enjoy a wide diversity of flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy an auto tour of the refuge as well as a variety of walking trails and even three observation towers, all great for catching glimpses of the beavers, deer and many species of bird that call the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge home.
